Frequently Asked Questions
ARE ALL SOLAR INVERTERS THE SAME?
Most solar panels come standard with a solar inverter that will transfer solar energy into raw electricity, ultimately powering your home. However, a few designs are actually a step up. For example, micro-inverter designs, like the Enphase and the SolarEdge, will convert solar energy into electricity more efficiently within your photovoltaic (PV) system. Furthermore, these smart converters may monitor and display the performance of each solar panel, allowing you to see which panels are generating the most energy.
WHAT IS THE BEST INVERTER FOR SOLAR PANELS?
Any inverter will do the trick for smaller operations, but an Enphase inverter offers a few advantages. J-Tech strongly recommends Enphase for its micro-inverter technology. This allows each panel connected in a unit to perform at its peak, regardless of any issues the panel before it may be experiencing. These inverters are even capable of bypassing shade and absorbing UV rays through the clouds. Ask our team about implementing Enphase inverters when setting up your solar panels.
IS ONE SOLAR PANEL ENOUGH?
While it isn’t likely that a single solar panel will power your entire home, it will still offset some of the costs. We recommend installing all of your solar panels at once to reduce the cost of labor and to start saving even more money right away. Nevertheless, any number of solar panels are better than zero!
HOW MUCH ENERGY DOES ONE SOLAR PANEL GENERATE?
A residential solar panel will generate anywhere from 250 to 400 watts of power each hour. For context, the average American home requires about 30,000 watts each day, or about 1,250 per hour. This means that anywhere from 3 to 5 solar panels will power your home during the day. But also keep in mind that due to the number of sunlight hours, your house will usually demand even more panels to fully offset your costs.
