Stealing Sustainable Energy From the Streets

Here at J-Tech Solar, we love keeping an eye out for new and innovative ways that companies take action for the benefit of our ecosystem. This week we’re highlighting a company called Devecitech. The new wind turbine they created just might be the tool we need to provide renewable energy to parts of the world where wind energy may not have been possible before, namely: big cities.

The Logistics

Essentially, this turbine is positioned near busy streets and uses the wind generated by passing vehicles to generate renewable energy. The turbine itself is equipped with multiple features to help it efficiently produce energy. On top, the turbine has a solar power sensor to help properly distribute the energy and keep the turbine functioning, even when the wind produced by vehicles isn’t powerful enough for full rotations. On the side of the turbine, a carbon footprint sensor constantly measures the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere surrounding the machine. Less importantly but still relevant, the design of the turbine is sleek and modern, allowing the aesthetic of the city it’s in to still look beautiful.

The Future With These Turbines

According to Devecitech, just one of these turbines on a busy road can produce up to 1 kilowatt of energy per hour. That’s a substantial amount of energy produced by just one turbine. If these turbines were purchased on a large scale by cities, the impact could be substantial. Currently, the turbine is still in the developmental stage and is only being tested in one city. Devecitech hopes that in the next few years they will be able to improve the turbine enough to distribute globally.

In The Meantime…

While this might be the most practical wind turbine, it’s just one of many of beautifully designed wind turbines. Each unique turbine has its own unique function, making each device practical for different parts of the world and for different amounts of power. The department of energy has set a goal that 20 percent of The United States’ power should come from wind energy by 2030. That lofty goal means we need lots of help and as many different wind turbines as we can get.

Just because this turbine isn’t currently available on a mass level doesn’t mean you can’t take measures in your own hands when helping our environment. For example, if you’d like to take a large step for the environment, there are plenty of ways to build your own wind turbine. Or, if you don’t have enough time or craftiness for DIY projects for the earth, simple recycling efforts can make a huge impact on our environment. Essentially, there are no efforts too small or too large when it comes to helping the environment.

If we’ve sparked your interest with helping the earth but you’re not quite sure where to start, visit our blog for helpful tips and tricks. When it comes to specific efforts for the environment, solar power might be a great option for you and your family. Let’s begin this solar power journey today so that you can start enjoying renewable energy all year long!
