Increase Your Home’s Curb Appeal
When it comes to your home, curb appeal is very important.
When done right, it can show off your home’s personality to outsiders and potential buyers. While most people believe it to be arduous and expensive, maintaining your home’s curb appeal can be simple, inexpensive, and fun.
Remember that a little goes a long way. You don’t want too many items cluttering up your front porch. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a lot of items. Start by picking out one item and building your aesthetic around that item. If you pick out a particularly Large item, surround it with smaller items. If you have items that need to stay outside, like a water hose, place it in a basket or container (from Michaels or The Home Depot) to keep it out of site. If you have shoes or items that usually stay out on the porch, consider placing them in a hollow bench, out of site.
Curb appeal can help increase the sellability of your home.
Add Plants and Flowers
Plants and flowers add a colorful and vibrant look to the outside of your home. The colors make the outside of your home more open and inviting. Most plants and flowers are low maintenance and would not take time away from your life. If you’re a little hesitant about plants, there a lot of plants that need a little care in keeping them alive. Aloe Vera and Echeveria’s, to name some, can be left alone for quite some time and still thrive. When it comes to flowers, there are a plethora to choose from, both seasonal and all around. For Spring and Summer, peonies work best, and for Fall and Winter, dahlia’s are ideal. Calla lilies, carnations, and hydrangeas are perfect for all seasons. Stay away from planting artificial plants, they come off as tacky and will not do your yard any good.
Take Care of Your Lawn
The lawn is such an important part of your home. It’s the first thing people see when they see your home. The presentation and first impression of the lawn can paint a picture of your whole house. There are easy ways to spruce up your lawn. Making sure your grass is always moved and kept clean is a great start. Setting a sprinkler system to regularly water your lawn would make care and maintenance easier. Another easy fix would be putting lights around your lawn. Making sure your house is well lit is important, for appearance as well as functionality.

Personalize Your Portch & Entryway
When thinking about personalizing your porch and entryway, consider what makes your home special. What makes it a home? Adding a mat at the front door makes your home more inviting and welcoming. Hanging a wooden sign with a quote or maybe your family name near the front door is also a great personal touch to your home. Etsy is a good place to find great outdoor décor. You can buy something general or have someone personally custom design something for you. A swing is another personal touch you could put on your porch, whether it’s for the kids or relaxing. The numbers on your house can make a big difference to the appeal of your home. Make the numbers easy to find and appealing to the eye. You don’t want to have a great yard look with rusted or hidden numbers.
Keep up With Maintenence
After you working on the curb appeal of your home, don’t forget to routinely check up on your projects. Going around and checking that everything is still in order and working, is a good habit to get into. This way, if something has gone wrong, you can easily correct it right away, rather than finding multiple things broken and having to go around fixing them all and wasting your valuable time.
There are so many other great and simple things you can do around your home to make it more appealing. Make sure you do a little research on the changes you want to do, create a plan, and set aside the right amount of time to complete them. Don’t overthink or overspend on these projects. Most of these do not require professional help. Just a trip to the Home Depot and scheduled time. If you need any ideas, Pinterest is the best way to go.
